Glyphs & Mantras

The endgame layer on top of imbuing. Glyphs are etched into gear; a valid set of etched Glyphs activates a Mantra.

Glyphs

Getting them
High-level quests and high-level monsters. They do not stack; they sit in the Mystery Pouch or break down into fragments
Two types
Earthly and Celestial, the latter stronger, each with eight levels
Etching
Weapon, head, body and foot armour at level 115+. One Glyph per piece, and the item must be imbued to the Glyph's level +3
Two outcomes
A Standard etching counts toward a Mantra but grants no bonus. A Flawless etching — 5% — also applies the Glyph's own bonus

Purging destroys things. Removing a Glyph carries a base 55% chance of destroying both the item and the Glyph. Lightbender Stones and Glyph Seals cut that risk.

Purging and Forging

Fragments
A Glyph breaks into a fragment of the same type and level
Level up
Six fragments forge into one Glyph a level higher
Sidegrade
Two fragments and an Etherlaced Crystal make a Glyph of the same level

Mantras

A valid combination of same-type Glyph levels across a set unlocks a Mantra, activated from the Character menu. The bonus rolls semi-randomly, so it can be disabled and renewed for a better one. The Help button in the Mantra panel lists every valid combination.
